The Samsung Intrepid SPH-i350 made its foray into the market as Sprint's first Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone. Intrepid is Samsung's follow up to the Samsung Ace. However, it is an upgraded version of its predeccesor having being blessed with a touchscreen, a larger QWERTY keypad, a great camera and Windows Mobile 6.5. The phone does well as a messaging device and can surely serve as an alternative to the Tour if one desires a touchscreen phone.

Design, Dimensions

The Samsung Intrepid is larger than the Ace and also feels much lighter. The dimensions of the device are 4.88 x 2.44 x 0.53 inches and it weighs about 91 grams. It is also wide thereby offering more space for the keyboard. The keys are also larger than in the Ace which facilitates ease in typing.

The standard navigational cluster is present on the top of the keyboard. The navigation keys are a little hard to use as they are very close to each other. The front portion of the phone is dominated by the 2.5inches QVGA display. As the back of the phone is not textured it tends to slip out of hand.

Camera

The Intrepid comes with a 3.2MP camera and camcorder that can be used to capture special moments. The outdoor photos are sharp and detailed but the colors do not appear as good. Although the photograps appear quite decent fancy things cannot be expected out of the camera that does not offer zoom features.

Basic Features

The Intrepid SPH i350 offers a host of features which include a 2.5 inches touchscreen, QWERTY keypad, MP3 player, stereo Bluetooth, Windows Mobile 6.5 OS and many more. A feature that deserves special mention is the TellMe voice recognition applcation. It opens up a web page if the user throws up a search term. It also connects calls to people when directed by voice.

Interface: The Samsung SPH-i350 Intrepid runs on the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. It offers a great visual overhaul that starts with the homescreen featuring a list of items like messaging, calendar, multimedia and Internet explorer among others. Also the start menu has been altered. It cannow be customised according to the user preference.

Phone Book: The phone book capacity depends on the system memory. Multiple numbers can be assigned to each contacts. Besides, the contacts can also be assigned ring IDs and picture IDs.

Screen

The 2.5 inches display screen is one of the best features of the phone. It has a pixel resolution of 320x240 pixels but the pictures are comparatively sharper and clearer than what similar resolution usually offers. The touchscreen is quite responsive and accurate.

Keypad and Controls

The bottom part of the Intrepid is dominated by the QWERTY keypad. Although it works well but the keys do no not have well defined boundaries requiring users to monitor their fingers as they are texting. The keys are very small and they do make dialing difficult. However, they are easy to read as they are printed in white. But again, the punctuation marks are a little difficult to see as they are in red.

The left side of the phone has a volume rocker and microUSB port. The right hand side features the power/sleep key, a dedicated camera button.

Audio

The Intrepid features an MP3 music player. The files suported are AAC, AAC+, WMA, MIDI. It comes with a dual band CDMA radio as well as a GSM radio. Voacal and speaker quality are pretty decent , crisp and loud. There is a small mono speaker on the handset's back part which generates pristine sound for ambient music listening experience.

Messaging

The Intrepid supports all forms of communication namely SMS,MMS, POP, IMAP and Microsoft Exchange. The threaded message feature is also there. Email feature is really good as creating accounts is pretty easy and convenient. The email client also keeps different accounts well organized. Instant messengers are also supported which include AOL, windows Live, Yahoo Messenger.

Media

The Intrepid uses the mobile version of the Windows Media Player for audio and video. Sprint TV, NFL Mobile, and NASCAR Mobile are also part of the Sprint entertainment package and hence included. The videos look really good. Sound quality on the external speakers is a bit low and using headphones is recommended.

However, the Media player needs a little more updating as the songs do not load properly. Also, Windows Mobile often is unable to locate certain tracks on the memory card as it is not organized well in the library.

Internet

The SPH-i350 offers support for Sprint's 3G network and also WiFi wireless network. Thus there are plenty of options for a speedy Web browsing experience. As it is a Windows Mobile based handset it includes the mobile version of the Internet Explorer and thus offers a fairly good browsing experience. Web pages load quickly and look good too. Support for Flas Lite is also provided.

Storage

It has a 256MB RAM and a 512MB ROM. It comes with a microSD slot that allows memory expansion.

Connectivity and Data

The Intrepid is a GSM Quad-band phone capable of global roaming (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). It also features CDMA dual band (800/1900 MHz) . For data transfer the Intrepid uses the EVDO Rev from Sprint. It features Stereo Bluetooth with A2DP support. It offers support for WiFi and EDGE technologies.

Usability & Performance

The Samsung SPH-i350 Intrepid performs reasonably well. The sound quality of the phone is good. However, the background noises interfere with conversations. The phone's battery offers 6hours of talktime which is a great offering for a CDMA phone. The stand-by time of the battery is also decent.

Performance is average

Hard to grip

Conclusion

There is nothing wrong really with the Samsung Intrepid SPH-i350. However, it doesn't do much to please us. It is more of a ‘middle of the road' kind of device. It serves as a kind of launch pad for the Windows Mobile 6.5 and apart from this it does not offer anything to generate enough interest.

With its slightly above average looks and average performance there is not much reason to go for this phone apart from the attractive price. However, an application that deserves special mention is the TellMe which performs really well.

Samsung SGH-T809 Samsung follows in Motorola's footsteps with the SGH-T809, and does a very good job of it, much to the chagrin of consumers looking for other slim handsets without having to buy Motorola's flagship phone, the RAZR, since it seems everybody already have. Unlike the RAZR though, the T809 is a slider phone and as such, the slimness seemed like a miracle. And do not get fooled by its size as the T809 is mightily packed with great features that would definitely inspire a purchase consideration for many people. The T809's svelte features can not be appreciated fully when viewed straight on though, as this view makes it look a bit bulky. That is until you start turning it to its side when its 1.52 cm thickness makes you wonder how so many features can be crammed in such a slim handset.

The Samsung T809 comes with its own MP3 player and can playback tracks that are stored on either the internal shared memory or on the expansion slot TransFlash card. In fact MP3 files may be transferred between the two memory cards so organizing your music files are easier. And speaking of organizing, the user can also organize the tracks into playlists so the user can listen to tracks according to his / her mood. And transferring your tracks from the computer to your phone has never been more efficient as you may do so wirelessly via the T809's Bluetooth connectivity, provided of course that your computer is also Bluetooth capable.

Samsung SGH-T809 Camera and Display

The Samsung SGH-T809 is equipped with a 1.3 mega pixel camera that can take photos in seven resolutions – a maximum of 1280 x 1024, 1152 x 864, 800 x 600, 640 x 480, 320 x 240, 240 x 320 and the minimum resolution of 240 x 180. It does not have a flash option though so taking photos in dark environments even with the night mode setting is not advisable. A redeeming factor with the T809's lens is that it can be swiveled from back to front. This is especially useful for when taking pictures of oneself, as all camera phone and digital phone users are fond of doing.

Aside from this the T809's photo capabilities are also crammed. One will find the usual photo editing features such as the ability to choose from 29 fun frames, picture effects of which the T809 has nine, up to ten seconds self timer, up to 15 photos in multi-shot mode, different brightness settings, mosaic shot options, white-balance and image orientation adjustments, and metering exposure (ISO settings).

The user can also choose between four viewfinder sizes which is a rarely found feature among camera phones. And for taking pictures of far away subjects, the lens of the T809 can zoom in up to 8x digitally. There are also options or up to five shutter sound effects, although there is no silent option which is quite frustrating. All the number keys on the T809 has specific shortcuts for the camera options although they are quite a lot to memorize and may take some time. All of it is listed in the user manual of course but it's not really convenient to lug around. But with all the camera features on the T809, the picture quality still was not among the best we have seen as images tend to be fuzzy. Still, for a camera phone, pictures are quite sufficient and whatever it lacks in quality may easily be overlooked once the fun factor starts.

Aside from stills, the camera on the T809 may also function as a camcorder and can capture videos in two resolutions: 128 x 96 and 176 x 144. Video length is of course dependent on the memory size available but videos taken for the purposes of multimedia messaging are limited to up to thirty seconds only. The photo editor shares the same options with the video capabilities of the T809, meaning the image versatility you get with photos are the same with videos. As expected though, the captured videos look a bit grainy even when set at the maximum resolution. For use as a video or multimedia message though, it serves its purpose well.

All photos and video clips are saved in the T809's internal shared memory of 70 MB though so the expansion slot can be quite handy. It is good to note that the T809 comes with a 32 MB TransFlash card upon purchase so you don't have to get one right away.

Samsung SGH-T809 Design and Accessories

As stated above, the Samsung T809 although a tad thicker, seems to borrow its design from Motorola. And it does so to good effect. Sliding this handset open is a pleasing experience and it's so effortless that the user can open it with just one finger. As a default setting the user can answer calls simply by sliding the phone open and end calls by closing the slider down. This may be changed however but I couldn't think of anything more intuitive than what's already the default.

Samsung SGH-T809 Features

Weight: 3.3 oz / 93.6 g

Width: 5.33 cm

Height: 10.16 cm

Thickness: 1.52 cm

Network: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz, GPRS / HSCSD / EDGE / CSD

Screen Resolution: LCD display, TFT, 320 x 240 pixels, 18-bit (262000 Colors)

Data: EDGE Technology

Connectivity: Bluetooth v1.2, USB, PCSync

Web Browser: WAP 2.0 (xHTML)

Music: MP3

Camera: 1.3 mega pixels, 1280 x 1024, Records up to CIF resolution (352 x 288 pixels) / 3GPP format

Messaging: EMS, MMS, Yes. ICQ, Yahoo! Messenger, Wireless Village 1.1, AOL Instant Messenger Service (AIM)

Expansion Slot: MicroSD

Tones: Polyphonic, Vibrating Alert

Software Features: Java (J2ME)

Other Features: Calendar, To-Do List, Streaming Video

Battery: Lithium Ion 800 mAh, 4.3 hours talk time, 130 hours stand by time

PROS: Although the T809 will always be thought of as a Motorola clone, there is no denying that its svelte design may be its biggest selling point. The 32MB TransFlash expansion card, although not much is a nice addition to the package especially considering that other phones offer nothing upon purchase. The MP3 player is also more than satisfactory. The slider can also be opened effortlessly.

CONS: The camera is obviously not the T809's biggest strengths and picture and video quality can use some improvement. And it would have been easily forgivable had it not been for the hefty price tag of this handset.

Overall: After all is said and done, the T809 is a fun and functional mobile phone to carry around. And with its slim build, mobility is not an issue.

The Samsung SCH-U940 is amongst many of the newly developed mobiles in the 20th century. It has so many features, both internal and external, that will serve as a convenience for the millions of people who use cell phones as a part of their day-to-day lives. Talking to family, friends and business associates is just a snap. This can also be added to the fact that the Samsung SCH-U940 can store up to 1,000 names. Thus, it also provides other means of sending messages. Apart from the usual SMS, you can also send messages via MMS and email. When you are talking to someone, you can opt to put that person on speaker phone.

Moreover, there have been speculations that Samsung SCH-U940, which in the new pride of Verizon; is also the Samsung F700 of Vodaphone. This is because of the many similarities the SCH-U940 and the F700 has. A few of their similarities would include the wide touch-screen attribute; and having just one key in its front surface area. Thus, the Samsung SCH-U940 is an exciting new addition to the sliding-screen type of mobile phones that has a 2MP camera today.

Samsung SCH-U940 Camera and Display

The Samsung SCH-U940 is a recent release and will also be distributed by Verizon Wireless. Its outstanding set up will really amaze everyone, especially the ones in the younger generation. It has a slider-screen feature; which actually adapts to the modern cell phone trend. This feature is enhanced and will be evident through its 3.2” touch-screen; along with a sliding QWERTY-type keyboard.

This fascinating design makes the Samsung SCH-U940 fit for any age bracket. You can also add the fact that it can provide a 240 by 440 pixel color resolution. This is enough to make the shots look real. Moreover, the Samsung SCH-U940 also has a 2 megapixel built-in camera and video capabilities. It is even equipped with an auto-focus system that enables you to take shots with more ease.

Samsung SCH-U940 Design and Accessories

The Samsung SCH-U940 has so many amazing features it can boast about. It has a CDMA dual band feature with actual 3G support. Innovation has come a long way and the mobile industry has evolved more than a few times already. Additional features like its world clock, memo and calendar are very helpful tools for those who frequently travel.

The Samsung SCH-U940 has Multimedia capabilities a bit similar to the F700. Videos can be played via H.264, H.263 and MPEG4. It also guarantees formatting capabilities. eAAC+, AAC+ and MP3 capabilities would go with its music player features. Actual formatting is also very much possible.

The SCH-U940's QWERTY keyboard is also very easy to use when composing text messages. It is even more convenient because it has a touch screen feature that allows you to easily drag items easily. It is also equipped with a predictive text feature that will surely make your text compositions a lot faster than the usual rate.

The SCH-U940 can also be used for web browsing and sending emails. It is compatible with a USB and a 3.55mm HeadPhone Jack. You can connect to the outside world via Bluetooth (1.2 Stereo). It also has about 150MB of actual internal memory. A slot for a microSD type of card is also provided in case there is a need for expanded storage.

The Samsung SCH-U940 also comes with a Li-Ion battery that can stand up to 4 hours of talk time. Of course, if you will use the camera and video functions regularly, this would really drain the power very easily. Thus, it can run up to 370 hours when it is in stand by.

For video calls, you have the privilege of using its speaker phone, caller group and ring ID features. It also has an internal antenna. Thus, recording is also possible with the Samsung SCH-U940.

Pros: The most outstanding feature of the Samsung SCH-U940 would be its video and music capabilities that you can easily format according to your taste. Aside from this, you can store up as many pictures and videos as you want since it has a microSD card expansion slot. This only means that memories are not that hard to store up with the Samsung SCH-U940. Another good thing would be its voice call feature that lets you view the person you are talking to. This would go with the 3G technology that the Samsung SCH-U940 is equipped with.

Cons: The biggest weakness of the Samsung SCH-U940 would be its dual band capability. This would mean that it's hard having this for travel purposes; especially if you will need roaming services. The usual now-a-days would be triband or quadband capabilities. This is because you are only limited to a number of countries you can use this in. If you are a frequent traveler, this is not advisable for you. You are better off with the ones that have triband and quadband features.

Overall: The Samsung SCH-U940 is therefore ideal because of the trendy fashionable style that it has; along with the wonderful features that goes with it. Its slim sliding-screen feature makes it very light to carry around. You can also have fun taking shots and videos. This is especially because you can take advantage of its formatting capabilities also. You can also compose text messages easily because of its predictive text feature. When receiving video calls, you will know immediately who's trying to contact you through its Ring ID and Picture ID. This is a good way to filter and prioritize your calls. It is even more amazing because the 3G technology that it has lets you experience the convenience of seeing the person you are talking to. This is very ideal for people who have loved ones who are frequent travelers. Seeing them is like having them near you when they call. The Samsung SCH-U940 is really convenient for everyday usage.

It is indicated that it is, in fact, a North American version of the previously released European F490. This is because it has an array of features similar to the F490. This would go with its 2 megapixel camera, internet and Bluetooth capabilities among others.

Samsung SPH-M800 Camera and Display

The Samsung M800 is amazingly characterized by its significantly large, high-resolution and touch-sensitive display features. You will also see that there are only a limited number of keys in the front portion of the SPH-M800. Apart from being compared to the F490, it is also being categorized with the U940. It is indicated as being bit similar; but it does not have a QWERTY keyboard and it is also slimmer.

Samsung SPH-M800 Design and Accessories

You will experience the practicality of having a high-speed internet accessibility; which would include the Sprint Music Store and Sprint TV. Aside from this, you will also have the assurance of the Bluetooth Wireless technology, which would include the Sprint Navigator for GPS location searches; and the A2DP Stereo Music Streaming.

The SPH-M800 video playback function is being supported by H.264, H.263 and MPEG4. This comes with real formatting capabilities as well. Its music player, on the other hand, is being supported by eAAC+, AAC+ and MP3. Like its video playback function, its music player also has real formatting capabilities.

The SPH-M800 is compatible with the microSD card. When composing text messages, it has the predictive text function that allows you to compose a bit faster than the usual rate. Hence, you can connect to the outside world via a USB or an actual 2.0 Stereo Bluetooth system. It also has an internal antenna.

Aside from its voice call attribute, you will also enjoy its speaker phone and recording features. This allows you to record your conversations, make voice memos and record other important things in your life. Its ring ID and picture ID feature is also a security measure to screen the calls you are getting.

The Samsung SPH-M800 also has GPS, JAVA and email capabilities. Its Li-Ion battery will provide you up to 4 hours of pure talk time. This is also equivalent to about 370 hours of standby time.
It can also put in multiple numbers for each contact; along with a caller group support system. Thus, the Samsung SPH-M800 offers all the privileges of the modern world.

Summary of Samsung SPH-M800 Features

Network: CDMA 800/1900 MHz

Screen Resolution: 240 x 440 pixels, Active TFT 262,144 colors supported

Connectivity: Bluetooth, USB

Music: Music Player, eAAC+, AAC+

Camera: 2 megapixels

Messaging: MMS, SMS, E-mail

Expansion Slot: microSD format

Software Features: Calculator, Calendar, Alarm, World Clock, Unit Converter

Other Features: Stop Watch, Voice Memo, Speaker phone, Video Calling

Battery: Li-Ion, 4 hours of talk time, 370 hours of standby

Pros: The best feature of the Samsung SPH-M800 would be its 3G technology. This is because it allows you to experiences the ease and comfort of reaching out to your family, friends and business associates. It provides you with other means to transact and communicate with other people around the globe. With its email and Bluetooth functions, you can do these above-mentioned transactions for a cheaper price; or at no cost whatsoever. Thus, it is a known fact that roaming rates are a bit pricey. Emails would really be a practical alternative, especially if you will be sending long drafts or the like; and this is readily available with the Samsung SPH-M800 3G phone. Many people are actually drawn to the various features the SPH-M800 has.

Cons: The weakest feature of the Samsung SPH-M800 would be its dual band feature. Having a dual band is only allowing you to have a good signal for certain countries. Triband and quadband functions are even better because it lets you access up to 3 or 4 networks. A dual band can really restrict your signal in some countries. If you are a frequent traveler, this would really pose a big problem for you. If you have a good signal in Asia and Europe, you may have problems when you reach Australia. Nevertheless, if you are only into traveling to different states, but still within the country, this is not an issue for you.
Aside from this, no apparent reports of problems encountered with the use of the SPH-M800 has surfaced.

Overall: The Samsung SPH-M800 really combined practicality with a luxuriously designed mobile phone. It has everything you need cramped up. This means that you don't need to actually bring several gadgets when you go out. Just having the SPH-M800 is enough. A camera, a video, a GPS system, internet access, video calls and a music player among others; it's having everything in one slim package.

The Samsung F480 is a similar version of the Samsung Armani phone. Basically, if you take off the Armani case of the latter, you have the SGH-480 in your hands. The SGH-F480 is an extraordinary fashion phone included in the "Style Line" of Samsung. What made it more exciting is the TouchWiz UI technology that it is packaged with. You will really be addicted to its widgets function which you can drag around the screen over and over again. This is why many people are waiting for the Samsung SGH-F480's scheduled release in the general market from May up to June 2008.

Samsung F480 Camera and Display

Samsung takes pride in its upcoming release of its new 3G mobile, the Samsung SGH-F480. It has a built-in camera that is about 5 megapixels with 20 x digital zoom functions. If that's not enough to blow your mind, add the fact that the Samsung SGH-F480 has video capture and video player capabilities. This makes it equipped with a digital video zoom that can go up to 12 x. Aside from this; it has a 2nd internal camera, a built-in flash, and an auto-focus function. This is along with its capability to project image stabilization. You can take pictures and videos as often as you like since it has about 130 MB of phone memory. The F480's phonebook alone can store up to 1,000 contacts. Thus, if you need more room to store your videos, photos and other data, the Samsung SGH-F480 has an external memory card slot that can accommodate 1 MB up to 4 MB of storage capacity.

The Samsung SGH-F480 has a screen resolution of 240 by 432 pixels with an active TFT of 262,000 colors. You will see cute widgets that you can actually drag all over the screen. This is made possible by its TouchWiz UI technology that showcases a full touch screen user interface. It is also equipped with the latest HSDPA, GPRS and EDGE. Furthermore, visual effects, wall papers and its 3GP or MPEG4 video formats are all easy to upload with its Bluetooth and USB compatibilities.

Browsing the internet is also very easy with its WAP v 2.0, xHTML and HTML capabilities. Aside from SMS, you can also communicate with anyone in the globe via MMS, Video Messaging, E-mail and Instant Messaging. Thus, with a one time charge of its Li-Ion battery, the Samsung F480 can last up to 3 hours of actual talk time and up to 300 hours of stand by time. Its video calling feature allows you to see the person on the other end of the line. Thus, it is also capable of mobile blogging and short range wireless connections.

Samsung F480 Design and Accessories

The Samsung F480 is a small-sized fashion phone which is similar to the Samsung Armani, without the Armani casing. This cute 3G mobile can be held in the palm of your hands with its card sized feature. Imagine your credit card having a leather casing and full touch screen user interface.

The SGH-F480 has a 2.8 inch touch screen attribute. It weighs about 102 grams and its vitals would be 95.9 mm x 55 mm x 11.5 mm. This would be for its height, width and thickness respectively. Aside from this, it has voice memo and voice dial features. It also has both an MP3 player and a video player function.

Like other mobiles, it has an organizer attribute. This would include a calculator, notepad, and tasks page. This is along with its memo, calendar and alarm functions. Java games and polyphonic ringtones can also be downloaded easily.

Summary of the SGH-F480 Features

Weight: 102 grams

Width: 55 mm

Music: MP3 Player, Video Player

Camera: 5 megapixels with 20 x digital zoom

Messaging: SMS, MMS, E-mail, Instant Messaging, Video Messaging

Software Features: Calculator, Sync, Java Games, Themes

Other Features: Built-in hands free, Voice command, Voice memo, Push to talk, Vibration, Video Calling, Calendar, Calculator

Battery: Li-Ion, 3 hours of talk time, 300 hours of stand by time

Pros: The best feature of the Samsung SGH-F480 would be its TouchWiz UI technology which is proven to be very innovative, easy and fun to use. The widgets attribute that it has will really give you the time of your life. You can drag it as often as you like. It also enables you to go through the menus and screens very easily. Hence, it is very convenient if you are a very busy type who rarely has the opportunity to fiddle with time. This is especially convenient if you are always traveling.

Aside from this, its quad band feature allows you to bring your phone anywhere without the slightest worry of not getting a good signal. The Samsung SGH-F480 is also very practical because it has a lot of stored power. It is very handy because its small and slim figure allows you to keep it in any part of your bag or clothing!

Business transactions are also made simpler because you can actually see the person you are talking to with the SGH-F480's video calling attribute. You can also communicate with anyone in the globe through its various technological features. This would include SMS, MMS, E-mails, Video Messaging and Instant Messaging.

Cons: The least desirable feature of the Samsung F480 would be its small face touch screen user interface. With its small size, it's a bit hard to compose text messages. This is since the letters would be a bit small to press with your fingertips. You may end up touching a wrong letter. Thus, this may result to your actual wasting and spending of time on correcting your mistakes through frequent backspacing.

Overall: The Samsung F480 is really a mobile fashion statement in its own sense. It has a lot of features that makes it very convenient for business transactions and communication purposes. It has the technology that can simplify your life and save you money. This is since the SGH-F480 has all the features of a camera, a video cam, an organizer, a phone, a laptop or computer, and even an MP3 player among others. This means that you don't need to buy all these gadgets separately. All you will ever need is the Samsung SGH-F480 in your hands.

Verizon scores a big one with the release of the Samsung SCH-i760. Announced last 2006, the i760 is a Pocket PC phone with a number pad and a built-in QWERTY keyboard. It operates on the Windows Mobile 6 operating system which includes the Office 2007. This is in contradiction to earlier reports that the i760 will run under the Smartphone version of the Windows operating system. It also does not include the Windows Live integration that other units of its class offer and will be missed by those who are used to having their services.

Another great source of frustration probably has to do something with either the display hardware or drivers as some programs are unable to display videos in landscape mode, which should have been one of the great features of Pocket PC's. Note that most programs may still take advantage of this feature without hitches so another possible culprit would be the developers of software to be used with the i760. Either way it is a bug that I hope will be fixed with the next couple of updates in firmware or the operating system itself (Windows Mobile).

But, with these flaws aside though, users and would be owners of the i760 should have no worries about application compatibilities. And Samsung's processor of 400 MHz is more than adequate for a smooth performance by the i760, and may be even better than other units offering the same processor speeds.

The i760 supports the relatively new EV-DO high speed network which Samsung takes full advantage of. For those yet to be familiar with this abbreviation, it means Evolution-Data Optimized or Evolution-Data Only. This is a standard for wireless transmissions of data which is typically used for broadband access. This enables the Samsung to have fast internet connections therefore making your file transfers and email attachments load seamlessly. Speed tests with EV-DO connection with the i760 clocked in at average speeds of around 740 – 820 kbps, which is a very respectable connection for a handheld device.

Aside from capabilities of the i760 with EV-DO, and unlike most recent releases from Verizon, the i760 also features Wi-Fi connectivity. While quite a surprise for a lot of consumers, because of the presence of EV-DO, its need for Wi-Fi was greatly contested by a lot of users, both techies and casual users alike. Well, as a defense for Samsung, the EV-DO is currently not available in a lot of regions yet, so internet connections relying on Wi-Fi is still the tried and tested way to go. And like with the EV-DO, the Wi-Fi connection of the i760 was fast and reliable with more than sufficient range. In just a few seconds after booting up the i760 it has already found the network with ease.

With the Samsung SCH-i760 utilizing the Microsoft Bluetooth stack instead of the more user friendly and generally better Widcomm stack, Bluetooth connectivity fared below than expected. In fact, listening to music using Bluetooth headphones was not generally pleasing.

Samsung SCH-i760 Camera and Display

The i760 does come integrated with a 1.3 mega pixel camera but quite frankly could do so much better. Especially frustrating knowing that entry level mobile phones can equip theirs with higher rated cameras. And the photo editing tools that come with it doesn't have a lot of surprises as well. Granted that this is a device meant for business activity though and it is understandable why Samsung scrimped on this area, but I reckon this will turn off a lot of prospective consumers.

Not much accessories go with the i760 package as well and as such comes in such a small box. Upon opening, one will only find the travel charger, USB cable and the software CD's. The extended batteries were nicely included though. But for a device boasting of music capabilities, the absence of a headphone was frustrating. Samsung could have at least thrown in some cheap ear buds.

Samsung SCH-i760 Design and Accessories

Truth be told, the Samsung i760 is not a very photogenic device. Even with the professional press release photos the device looked rather dull and uninteresting. Aside from that it looked bulkier than it really is. When viewed up close and personal though all these misconceptions are quickly forgotten as the i760 looked really sleek and gorgeous and would most certainly elicit a lot of interest. And it wasn't quite the heavy gadget one would expect it to be. At 150 g with the battery, it is just a tad heavier than a high end mobile phone. Its thickness even competes with that of supposedly slim phones with nothing much to offer compared with the i760. The i760 of course is a little taller and stouter, but pound for pound, this is PC mobility at one of its better incarnations.

And not only does it have the goods when it comes to looks, holding the samsung sch-i760 feels good as well. It felt very tough and well built. The spring loaded mechanism on this device was a charm to operate and seem durable. And unlike other Pocket PC's, the slider on the i760 does not slide open unintentionally while inside the pocket or when given a slight jolt. Opening the device exposes the rubberized buttons of the QWERTY keyboard and is generally easier to type with than most Pocket PC's.

Samsung SCH-i760 Features

PROS: The presence of both EV-DO and Wi-Fi connectivity options was great as EV-DO is still not readily available everywhere.
CONS: Bluetooth connection left a lot to be desired. The camera also could do a lot better. The accessories, or lack thereof, that comes bundled with the unit is also quite unsatisfactory, not even including a cheap set of ear buds.

Overall: All in all, the Samsung SCH-i760 is an attractive and sturdy business device and would be with you for the long haul. It works fast and efficiently and would definitely be great for the traveling business man.

The SGH-D900 is a stunning slider mobile phone by Samsung. It is otherwise known by its alias: The Black Carbon. As to why it is called by the company as such will be discussed later, though you are sure to already have ideas of your own

The slim tradition is kept with the Samsung SGH-D900 and could very well be the world's slimmest slider, and surely will be what first attracts many consumers. And as slim as the D900 may be, the features are anything but. In fact, this handset is filled to the brim with functions one would wonder at the technology Samsung had to employ to make this possible.

The basic functions are of course present such as a one thousand phone book entry with the capacity to save five phone numbers, an email address plus notes for each individual entry. A user group is also assignable with the ability to assign one of twenty five polyphonic ring tones and a picture as caller ID. Aside from the usual polyphonic ring tones, the D900 can also playback your assigned MP3 file as a ringing tone, which makes this phone very customizable.

Of course you can also expect the mandatory features like text messaging vibrating alert, voice recording, Web browser, calendar, calculator and a unit and currency converter. But what came as a surprise was the TV out connection that lets the user view videos and images on a television. Now, that may not be as usable as it may sound, but already I could think of a lot of important uses for it, multimedia presentations being one of them.

Samsung SGH-D900 Camera and Display

With the TV out feature of the Samsung D900, displaying the photos taken with this handset would not be a problem even when connected to big screen televisions. Thanks largely to the D900 being equipped with a 3.1 mega pixel camera that is far better from what even high end camera phones tend to offer. Images taken with the D900 look brilliant and taking them is not a chore as the camera's user interface is simple and intuitive. This is because a lot of the camera's functions may be accessed quickly as all the buttons of the D900, even the alphanumeric keypad, acts as shortcuts to adjust camera settings on the go. And brushing upon that subject, the D900 does have a lot of available settings that the user can tweak such as choosing from different image sizes (240 x 180, 240 x 320, 320 x 240, 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1600 x 1200, and a whopping 2048 x 1536). Different image qualities such as normal, fine, and superfine is also available. Of course exposure metering, color effects with eight presets, white balance, choice of thirty picture frames, ISO settings, digital zoom, brightness and two focus modes (pan or auto) are also present.

The camera fun doesn't end with still photographs though as the D900's video capabilities are far better than what we are usually making do with. For starters, video resolution comes in four different settings: 128 x 96, 176 x 144, 320 x 240 and 352 x 288. Different quality setting such as economy, normal, fine and superfine may also be selected. The user may also opt to turn off audio recording when not needed during video capturing. Of course video quality still has a long way to go before it can compete with dedicated camcorders but compared to other camera phones available on the market these days, the Samsung D900 has got to be right on top of the list.

Samsung SGH-D900 Design and Accessories

As earlier stated, because of its design, the D900 is given the cool "Black Carbon" nickname by Samsung. And the name suits it as it indeed looks like a phone carved out from some sheet of industrial strength black steel. It sports a matt black finish giving it excellent grip. And at only 13 mm thin, this has got to be the slimmest slider phone out in the market today. Sliding the phone open and shut is a cinch with its exceptional slide mechanism and may be operated with just the thumb, with its thumb grip giving extra help.

The Black Carbon's screen display is nothing to be scoffed at either as its 2.2 inches of 262,000 vibrant colors look absolutely stunning and may give even bigger screened phones a run for their money. Colors are right on the mark and text is easy to read even under harsh daylight. The screen's brightness may also be adjusted depending on the environment, and it comes with a backlight timer as well for emery conservation. And to further revamp your Black Carbon, different font styles and colors are selectable, as well as a choice of different backgrounds.

Ease of use is achieved with the Black Carbon's navigation keypad located underneath the beautiful display and is very useful with the slider closed. Sliding the cover panel open of course reveals another one of the Black Carbon's gems, the ergonomically designed alphanumeric keypad.

Summary of Samsung SGH-D900 Features

CONS: The keypad, although ergonomically sound in spacing does seem a bit flat and unsure when pressed.

It was only last October 2007 when Samsung released their sleek, streamlined model – the Samsung J750, and already the phone has garnered a lot of favorable raves and reviews. And it is only fair as there is a lot to love with Samsung's little number. First thing one notices, for obvious reasons, is the J750's wonderful and brilliant design.

Though effective simplicity is key with this unit, it is however edgy with the curves in all the right places. And the slider mechanism does wonders, especially when sliding it open to reveal the innovative keypad design. But never let its looks fool you, for what your eyes see in the J750 is nothing compared to what it can do to your senses. This unassuming little phone is teeming with functionality and features that the user would surely love. Samsung definitely knew what it was doing when they conceptualized the J750. But as always, a concept does not always translate into the material world. So let us take a closer look at the Samsung J750 and see how well it can amuse.

Samsung J750 Camera and Display

With the J750, Samsung took all that they learned from being in the mobile phone industry for many years and put it to good use. That is apparent with how so many features were able to fit in the J750's 99 mm x 48 mm x 18.4 mm body. Of course, as already a modern mobile phone standard, a 1.3 mega pixel camera offering digital zoom is present. Brightness may be tweaked and yu can also apply the different shot modes of the J750 according to your environment such as Night mode and Normal. Or think outside of the box and capture images using the Timershot, Multishot and Mosaicshot mode options.

Now 1.3 mega pixels is nothing to celebrate over you may say, especially with 2 mega pixels fast becoming the norm with today's mobile phones. But with the J750, let the images do the talking. The camera can capture images as much as 1280 x 960 pixels with options of different quality settings: Economy / Normal / Fine / Super Fine. With desktop and webpage background standards of 1024 x 768 pixels only, it is evident that the J750's camera's capability of 1280 x 960 is already so much more than the average user will need. Add to that fact the ability to add after-effects to your pictures such as Monochrome, Aqua, Sepia and Negative, and you are sure to spend hours tinkering with the J750. Then if after that you still feel a bit creative, you can let your inner Picasso out but rendering your captured images with the included frames in the J750's photo editor with various themes available.

If by any occasion you get bored with taking pictures with your Samsung J750, which is very doubtful, then let your creativity be immortalized in motion picture using the J750's video recording capabilities. It can capture H.263 videos and the bundled video player can recognize movies in the MPEG4, 3GPP and H.263 video formats as well. It is not much really, but with today's YouTube generation, this is certainly a mobile phone feature worth having at all times. And transferring videos into you phone is easy, just load your videos from you computer's library using it's USB or Bluetooth connectivity, and you are good to go. But there is not much you can load though as the J750 only has 10 mega bytes of memory pre-installed. You'll have to shelf out more if that does not meet your needs.

Samsung J750 Design and Accessories

Aside from those nifty features mentioned earlier, the Samsung J750 boasts of a music player capable of reading and playing back MP3, MIDI, AAC, and AAC+ files. It is quite a shame though that the J750 can not employ your MP3's as its ring tone. It's such a small gripe, but still it's something I would undeniably love.

The Samsung J750 of course is not all about fun and play and offers web browsing on its brilliant display, for when you want to see how your stocks are doing or simply to keep in touch through email with your business partners abroad. All that is a cinch with the J750's 3G capabilities, using NetFront or Google search is faster than ever.

Samsung is the kind of brand that you neither love nor hate. Be it with their home stereo components, television sets, media players, and mobile phones, there is just something about it that eludes the market. Is it lack of innovation? Cetainly not. But people's faces do not light up at the mere mention of their name. Maybe it's because they just have always been on the safe side of things. Their designs do not reach out ang grab you by your heart and throat the way a Sony Bravia or a Pioneer micro component might do. But with the release of their mobile phone model – the Samsung E250, they may soon turn the tables around.

First off: the E250 is developed by Samsung to take a big bite out of the mid-range cell phone industry. And it may do just so. The quality and built is top-notch, with a high-quality finish. It's design speaks softly but carries a big punch. The E250 will inspire you to hold it the moment you set your eyes on it's large color TFT screen surrounded by it's misty silver casing with bevelled edges. And once you hold it, you'll notice it is thin at just 14 mm and light at only eighty grams but still feels tough and sturdy.

Samsung E250 Camera and Display

As is almost standard even with entry level mobile phones these days, the Samsung E250 comes integrated with a VGA camera capable of capturing both still pictures and video. Both these functions are capable of zooming in your subject for up to 4 x digitally. Not much you may think compared to other camera phones that offer up to 8 x digital zoom. But rarely, if at all does anyone need to zoom in that much with their handsets. And zooming in at that rate would only render your shots noisy and pixilated anyway so why bother trying.

The E250 has a CMOS sensor though that promises excellent imaging and clear, crisp photographs. Video however, can only capture at fifteen frames per second of QCIF resolution in either the H263 or MPEG4 format. But the lack in quality makes up by being able to capture a whole hour of video footage, complete with sound. Be sure to carry your charger with you when capturing lengthy videos though as the E250 is not known for its long battery life. Speaking of video, the E250's caller identification has the ability to display video clips instead of just the standard still photo or text.

Samsung E250 Design and Accessories

Maybe it is unfair to judge the Samsung E250 by its photo and video capabilities though as it is a mobile phone first and foremost, and the added features are provided just as extra fun. Something you can tinker with when not taking or making calls. All those functions are great additions because it's hard to take your hands off the unit and as a result your fingers will want to find something to do with it. And of things to do there are a lot considering its size. The E250 is capable of MP3, AAC and AAC+ playback. And you can load your songs either with the use of Bluetooth or USB cable. Not much you can load though as the phones memory of just 10 mega bytes is enough for about three to four standard length tunes. The memory is upgradeable though. But in case you do not want to purchase an additional micro SD card, the phone comes with its own FM tuner.

But just sliding the top (spring operated) to reveal its full keypad is a wonder as it slides effortlessly and does not feel cheap unlike other sliders that seem like it's going to break in half. But even when the full keypad is concealed, moving your way through the menus is easy because of the 4 way navigation pad. Other frequently used buttons such as the call accept and reject are situated at the façade so you won't have to slide the handset open every time you take a call. The E250 looks sleek at a dimension of just 99.5 mm x 49.5 mm x 14.1 mm. And the finishing makes it look expensive and stylish. There are color variations to better suit your personality but the silver one just do wonders to the eyes and will appeal to all sides of the demography.

Summary of Samsung E250 Features

PROS: For all its intent and purposes as a mobile phone the E250 does a good job. USB and Bluetooth connectivity is great.
CONS: Picture quality taken with its VGA camera could be better. Video quality does not do wonders either. Battery life is short so you have to make sure your charger is with you at all times. And the supplied memory leaves a lot to be desired.

Overall: In conclusion, picture and video quality aside, the Samsung E250 performs well and more than serves its purpose. And it does the job while looking stylish and beautiful. Plus you don't have to shelf out a lot of money for it.

With the L320, Samsung unveils a sleek mobile phone with the female demography in mind. It is part of Samsung's La Fleur collection which also includes the Samsung L310. Its design utilizes the smooth operating clamshell type blueprint with dual screens (OLED and TFT) which exudes femininity and modern metropolitan chic. The OLED display works as an external screen to allow quick viewing of information when the clamshell is closed. Once opened, the internal screen of 1.9 inches with up to 65k colors is revealed in all its 176 x 220 pixel glory. I'm guessing the clamshell body would be a definite hit among the female consumers as they can easily drop their mobile phones inside their purses or handbags among other things, without the need to purchase additional protective shells or silicone cases to keep their phones from getting nicked or scratched.

The L320's small size alone obviously takes its cue from the female hand's generally smaller anatomy. It sports a two-tone colored casing with ample features inside. This includes functions developed for the woman on the go such as a calculator for calorie consumption, a shopping list system and even a fragrance type feature that determines what fragrance best suits the user depending on the favorite food and beverages that the user lists. Samsung may have gone the sexist route with this outing but nevertheless the Samsung L320 could be a definite must have for discriminating women for its sleek design alone.

Samsung L320 Camera and Display

Of course this would not be a lady's phone without a camera. And the Samsung L320 does not disappoint, for who would ever want to disappoint a woman. The L320 has an integrated 2 mega pixel camera that can take still pictures and record video as well. When using the camera functions of the L320, the large internal screen doubles as a viewfinder. The phone also comes with its own selection of camera settings and features that should allow you to capture that perfect moment every time. Then after all that picture taking, you may enjoy viewing your images of up to 1600 x 1200 pixels while listening to your choice of tunes with the integrated music player of the L320. And the user can also create profiles for their contacts so every time you receive a call from someone on your contact, his or her picture is displayed on the screen.

As you may have read earlier, the L320 does have video recording capabilities. But this proves to be not its strongest suits. Nonetheless it is nice to know that the function is there, in case the need for it arises.

Samsung L320 Design and Accessories

Design and stylishness was obviously on the minds of Samsung's developers when making the L320. For how else can you entice a woman into taking a closer look and owning a mobile phone if not for nice, clean lines and dependable functions? The L320 comes with Bluetooth technology so connecting your compatible peripherals like printers, headphones and laptops wirelessly should be achieved effortlessly. And the Samsung L320 does so even with the handset at ten meters away. What's more, this wireless feature means less clutter to deal with. This feature must be another plus for the female demography. For faster data transfers from your computer to the L320, and vice versa, you may choose to make the most of its USB connection.

The USB support is only version 1.1 though, so one may think that filling up the phone's 20 megabytes of internal memory might take some time. But this is not the case as the L320 supports GPRS and the EDGE technology, so you can transfer your data files at very high speeds. And if 20 megabytes of internal memory space is not enough for you, the phone's memory is expandable using the memory card slot according to one's needs.

The Samsung L320 also hosts the XHTML and the WAP 2.0 Browser, two much used application for today's mobile phones, so checking for emails and working online on the fly should be a cinch. Support for text messaging and multimedia messaging is also featured as is already the standard in even entry level handsets. The predictive text capability is great for when typing messages on the go, so you no longer suffer the embarrassment of sending a poorly composed message.

As of press time though, the talk time and standby time of the battery is yet to be announced. This is rather suspicious as I'm pretty sure it does not take much to acquire this much needed data.

Summary of Samsung L320 Features

Weight: TBA

Software Features: JAVA games, downloadable games, photo editor

Battery: Standard battery, Li-lon

PROS: Sleek design, 2 mega pixel camera, dual screen, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, calorie counter, MP3 support, Tri Band Network.
CONS: pretty standard battery, rather sexist outlook, could use more functions.
Overall: Overall, the Samsung L320 and the rest of the Samsung La Fleur collection do a nice job of putting together form and function in their mobile phones that fit perfectly with the modern woman's needs. The L320 could benefit from more functionality but as it is, it already is a nice piece of gadget that the female buyers would definitely love to have.

The slim line of Samsung mobile phones just unveiled the newest member of its clan; the SGH-F210. The F210's slim and slick body design can bring confusion to the average mobile user because it looks more like a music player than a mobile phone. It seems that Samsung is trying to capitalize on the growing mobile music industry by adding features to the F210 that appeals to the hip and chic music lovers. Just below the display screen, a metallic dial pad is installed which acts as the navigational key of the mobile phone that allows the user to scroll available menus with ease. This uniquely small device measures 87.7mm x 30.9mm x 20.4mm and weighs only 72 grams.

The F210, which is extremely light and small measures about 150mm when opened. This spinning design device comes in pink or black color variants and has smooth edges with evidence of quality manufacturing. The tri-band MP3 player look alike has a rotating front panel which when opened reveals the mobile phone's large keypad. Closed, the F210 shows no evidence of being a mobile phone because only the metallic pad and display screen are visible which adds to its appeal.

The F210's keypad has dedicated buttons for the camera, delete, call, end, and two configurable softmenu keys. One very important feature of the F210 is the ease of operating the seemingly complex device which gives it appeal for those who are looking for style and elegance, combined with incredible music playing capabilities. The metallic pad may be quite difficult to operate at first but once you get used to moving it around, it proves its worth with its functionality becoming more pronounced when viewing picture galleries. Accessing the F210's mobile phone functions is easy with the well constructed main menu which will give the user access to every available feature on the mobile phone.

The tri-band Samsung SGH-F210 has an exceptionally long battery life with approximately 265 hours of standby, about 200 minutes of talk time and a little over 9 hours of continuous music play.

It is a wonder how the slim and compact design of the Samsung SGH-F210 can accommodate a two megapixel camera that has 352 x 288 pixels and CIF video capabilities. Pictures, videos and messages can be displayed on the 1.46 inch 262,000 colors TFT LCD screen display which has a resolution of 128 x 220 pixels. The display screen may be a bit small for a mobile phone but the display quality is clear and bright which more than makes up for its size.

The quality of pictures is more than average when shot under diverse lighting conditions with nicely pronounced reds and greens. When the top panel is closed the screen functions in landscape mode which displays information on music being played. A welcome feature that sits in well for frequent travelers is the ability of the mobile phone to display on the standby screen two clocks of different time zones. However, this will not show when the top panel is closed so you have to open it to read the time.

The Samsung SGH-F210 has web browsing capabilities with WAP2.0 and xHTML support and can also connect to a personal computer with its USB2.0 support. Primarily, the F210 was designed as a music phone with majority of its features bundled in its ability to produce quality music. The visual enhancements for playbacks of music are also excellent. Information on the title, album art, track length and elapsed time are shown in music mode. Pausing, forward and back icons are also seen on the screen with pause or play option being activated also through the select button of the metallic pad.

The F210 supports MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+ music formats which can be played back with 3D sound effect for superior quality. Volume controls for the mobile phone while on music mode are located on top of the unit while the scroll wheel also acts as a navigation key to move around your music library. The Samsung SGH-F210 can also playback videos with MPEG-4 format. To add to the music functionality of the F210, it is equipped with an application that can identify a song. Transition from music mode to phone mode shifts the display from landscape to portrait mode.

Other big features of this small package includes an FM radio with RDS, Stereo Bluetooth with A2DP, Java games and applications, T9, World clock, Universal converter, alarm, stopwatch and calendar. This compact mobile music player phone has an internal memory capacity of 1GB with a support for expandable memory with a microSD slot that can handle a maximum of 2GB memory. The multi-function port of the F210 accommodates the lanyard/headphone which allows the user to activate the phone's handsfree feature. The application software Samsung PC Studio 3.2 which is bundled with the sales package allows the user to transfer files from the personal computer to the F210 via USB connection.

Summary of Samsung SGH-F210 Features

Network: GSM 900/1800/1900, GPRS

Dimension: 87.7mm x 30.9mm x 20.4mm, 72g

Camera: 2MP, MPEG4, H.263

Display: 1.46”, 262K color TFT, 128 x 220 px

Audio: MP3/WMA/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+, 3D sound effect, background music play, music recognition, WMDEM/MTP

Memory: 1GB (internal), Expandable microSD format (maximum 2GB)

Connectivity: Java/Bluetooth/MMS/USB 2.0/WAP 2.0

Ringtones: MP3, Polyphonic, 3D Sound Speakers

PROS: The portability of the Samsung SGH-F210 and its morphing feature that easily transforms it from a music player to a mobile phone is the greatest asset of this phone. Ease of use is also an important aspect of this phone with the revolutionary metallic pad and the transition from music to phone mode and vice versa doable with one hand.

CONS: Some considerations that would have added to the value of the F210 are adding a clock display while on music mode, camera flash and stabilizer so that the pictures would not be so blurry, dedicated camera button on the external for quick shoots and more readable menus. The screen size is acceptable for a music player but not for a mobile phone which does not do justice to the phones photo, video and web browsing capabilities.

Overall: There is no doubt that the Samsung SGH-F210 has succeeded in fusing together the music player and the mobile phone. While the music mode works incredibly well for its size, the phone mode needs some adjustments to be more gratifying to the user. Undoubtedly though, this mobile phone will be on the wish list of many music lovers that look for a high quality combination music player and mobile phone that exudes style, elegance, unique design and distinctive appeal.

The Samsung Group, South Korea’s biggest conglomerate and the world’s largest electronics company, announced the release of their latest Samsung X550 mobile phone in the third quarter of the year 2007.

The Samsung X550 is regarded as the successor of the very popular E700 because of the two mobile phones’ numerous similarities. In fact, it is hard to tell these two mobile phones apart just by looking at them. Aesthetically, both mobile phones have the classic silver body lined with a blue front and back plate. Both phones have internal antennas and the eye of their VGA cameras is cradled at the head of the center of the mobile phone. Both the Samsung X550 and the E700 are in the clam shell form type which makes them easy to flip open with just one hand.

The clam shell design is perfect for people who dislike compact phones and would really rather talk into a mouthpiece that is actually closer to their mouths than their ears. These two mobile phones were created with the trendsetting crowd in mind as both the Samsung X550 and the E700 have stylish looks to them. However, fashionable mobile users might find mobile phone store counters crowded with other buyers from the late teens to late 30s age bracket, as these attractive Samsung mobile phones have great universal appeal. Functionality and practicality are still very much maintained in the slim and sleek package of the Samsung X550 as will be discussed later in this review.

Both of these mobile phones may be chic and elegant but while the E700 has dimensions of 90 x 45 x 23 mm and a weight of 86 grams, the Samsung X550 is able to pack in a lot more features in its more compact dimensions of 90 x 44 x 18.8 mm and a mere 75 grams in weight.

The main attraction and the most marketed feature of the Samsung X550 is its VGA integrated zoom camera. What would a trendsetter be without a phone and a camera always ready at hand? This feature of the Samsung X550 boasts of a digital zoom and various camera settings with different effects such as multi shot, night mode, and portrait mode. The camera also has a self-timer and you can snap pictures in resolutions of 128 x 120, 160 x 120, 320 x 240, and the more than adequate maximum size of 640 x 480 pixels.

The Samsung X550 has Java MIDP 2.0 application support, a T9 phone pad, an organizer, an alarm clock, a calculator, a built-in handsfree, and voice memo. It also has a WAP 2.0/xHTML browser and is Bluetooth enabled. Games are also available on the Samsung X550 and these may be changed with downloadable games for this mobile phone. Oh and of course, keep in touch with your family and friends by sending and receiving both SMS and MMS messages on the Samsung X550.

The Samsung X550 has both an external display and an internal display. The external OLED display located on the front cover of the phone has a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels with 256 colors (8 bits). It displays the time, date, new messages received, and calls among other things without even having to open the phone. Flip the phone open and you will see the larger, brighter, and more vividly colored 1.9 inch, 120 x 160 pixels graphical TFT internal display with 65k colors (16 bits).

Polyphonic ringtones (16 channels) are used for the Samsung X550 and these are downloadable just like the phone’s screensavers and wallpapers. It has a 2 MB shared memory, 500 phonebook entries with photocall, and records 20 dialed, 20 received, and 20 missed calls. The Samsung X550 uses a standard Li-Ion battery with a stand-by of up to 200 hours and a talk time of up to 3 hours.
